Following Saturday's section the play the 26 teams were whittled down to 8 for Sunday's big dance.

The x6 three winners were joined by the top two x2 winners (of six) in the quest for top honours.

The quarter finals were in comparison the the semi's relatively clear cut, however the fireworks certainly went off in the semi's with the narrowest of margins in both games the order of the day.

The Gary Wallace/Willie McIvor combo got off to a flyer against father & son Peter & Tony Clark to be in front 11-2 after 8 ends. To their credit the Clark's fought their way back to 12-13 down going into the 17th end where they conceded a single. The last end was a nailbiter with Gary & Willie clinging on despite dropping a single to run out the victors 14-13, a great match.

The other semi saw North Harbour 1-5 year reps Wayne Harris & Allan McQuoid up against the experienced Simon Reesby and another 1-5 year Kerry Greenhalgh. A similar pattern emerged with Wayne & Allan getting out to a 9-3 margin after six ends, however the Reesby/Greenhalgh duo got back to some parity to trail by three at the conclusion of twelve ends. The next five ends saw Simon & Kerry claw back seven shots to Wayne & Allan's two, 13 all playing the last, another nailbiter with Simon & Kerry snatching the win 15-13.

The final was evenly contested and the score reflected that, however the middle stages proved decisive with the Wallace/McIvor pair scoring a three and a four within four ends to jump out to 15-10 after fifteen ends. Despite the Ressby/Greenhalgh double scoring five in the last three ends Gary & Willie claimed a deserved win 17 -15, a thoroughly enjoyable game witnessed by a very good crowd of spectators.
